Lady Railroaders Make a Big Statement at State Final Four.

High School student athletes all begin their post season play with the results being all the same. Many will find the end of their High School careers with the bitter taste of a loss. This became reality for Hannah Fout, Chelsea Gill, Aspen Weldy, and Bailey Wysong as they watched their final game as a Railroader softball player come to an end. An end as a high school athlete, but the beginning of what’s yet to come and the memories made along the way.

The Railroaders entered post season with many not predicting as deep a tourney run as the Bradford faithful knew was possible.

Bradford traveled to Akron to make its first final four appearance in the schools’ history. In doing so, they were labeled as underdogs by many, but not in the hearts of the 14 Bradford players along with the coaches and Bradford faithful.

Media reports stated the teams were very similar on paper and as the game played out they couldn’t be any more spot on.

As the games 7th inning came to an end and extra innings were on the horizon, it became apparent that the first team to score would most likely advance to the championship game and that was how it played out.

Hillsdale capitalized on a Bradford miscue and advanced to Saturday’s 4 PM championship game.

The mental and physical toughness in this game was an indescribable feat. Both teams refused to give up and it was apparent that Bradford belonged there.

I think both coaches would agree there was no loser in this game. Both teams were tough to the very end.

The memories made will last a lifetime while the sting of defeat will diminish in time.

Thank you, Lady Railroaders, for leading us on this ride. You have made your coaches, teammates, families, and fans proud to be a part of it all. We will see you on the diamond next spring.
