Knepp Competes At State…

Bradford sophomore Karmen Knepp competed in the 2016 OHSAA State Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Jesse Owens Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University in Columbus.

On a very hot, humid day, Knepp crossed the finish line in the 3,200 meter run in the time of 12:02.13 – good for 16th in the state.

Whether it was the intense heat or perhaps illness, Knepp struggled in the second half of the race after running in the middle of the pack over the first four laps. Her time was 36 seconds off pace of her own school and personal record of 11:26.00.

Still, it was a historic accomplishment for Knepp as concluded her sophomore season as a two-time state qualifier – one in cross country and the other in track. Knepp also claimed a district championship on the track.

Congratulations Karmen and good luck in your quest to return to state in both cross country and track in 2017-18.
